Gary Neville thought he had the last laugh after Trent Alexander-Arnold's goal was disallowed for Liverpool against Manchester United .

The Reds believed they had taken an early lead on Sunday when goal-line technology indicated that the full-back's effort had crossed the line. Yet Mohamed Salah was deemed to have been offside and interfering with play from Luis Diaz's cut-back.

Alexander-Arnold celebrated in style, mimicking Steven Gerrard's famous Old Trafford celebration as he kissed the pitchside camera. But the goal was referred to VAR, leaving Liverpool disappointed and Alexander-Arnold's Gerrard-esque celebration in vain.

Sky Sports had a camera in the commentary box with Jamie Carragher alongside his old adversary, Neville. The joy in the away end at Old Trafford was abruptly halted and the 49-year-old couldn't resist a jibe.

"Those Liverpool fans are singing loudly to our right, they're going to disallow this goal, they'll stop singing pretty quickly," he commented. But Arne Slot's team responded by capitalising on two errors from seasoned midfielder Casemiro.

The Brazilian's pass was intercepted by Ryan Gravenberch before Diaz headed home from Mohamed Salah's cross just before half-time, the Colombian then doubled his tally for the day with a fantastic first-time effort.

Casemiro lost the ball in midfield to Alexis Mac Allister, who then passed it to Salah. The forward took on the full-back and delivered a sharp cut-back into the six-yard box for Diaz to finish.

Salah himself got on the scoresheet before the hour mark, capitalizing on another United error. Kobbie Mainoo was dispossessed, and Dominik Szoboszlai found Salah, who blasted the ball past Andre Onana. Liverpool has now won all three of its Premier League games this season - without conceding a goal - against Ipswich, Brentford, and United.
