Manchester United star Casemiro's wife posts social media reminder after Liverpool battering

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro's wife has taken to social media to remind fans of his past achievements following his disastrous performance against Liverpool .

The Reds ran riot at Old Trafford on Sunday, defeating Man United 3-0 thanks to a Luis Diaz brace and a second-half Mohamed Salah strike. And it was Casemiro who was at fault for Diaz's brace.

The first Liverpool goal saw the Brazilian lose possession after a misplaced pass was intercepted, which culminated in Diaz connecting at the back post with a Salah cross. Then the second goal saw him robbed of possession by Diaz. Alexis Mac Allister then picked up the loose ball, gave it to Diaz who then passed it out wide to Salah.

The Egyptian fired a pass into the Diaz's path inside the box, with the Colombian making it 2-0 with a first-time finish. So poor was the Brazilian, he was substituted at half-time for youngster Toby Collyer, who was handed the unenviable task alongside Kobbie Mainoo of having to deal with Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai .

And after his dismal performance at Old Trafford, Casemiro's wife, Anna Mariana Casemiro, took to social media to remind football fans of the Brazilian's previous achievements. She posted a photo of Casemiro's trophy collection, which includes the five Champions League titles he won whilst at Real Madrid.

The 32-year-old also won three La Liga titles during his time with the Spanish giants, and was also named in FIFA's FIFPRO Men's World 11 back in 2022. She also then posted another story on Monday morning of Casemiro celebrating with his Manchester United teammates captioned: "Always strong @casemiro. The biggest [red heart emoji] @manchesterunited]."

After the game at Old Trafford, there had been some suggestion on social media the Brazilian midfielder had left the stadium at half-time after being subbed - something which was quashed by Erik ten Hag.

"I met him after the game in the dressing room, so he didn’t leave the stadium at half-time," Ten Hag said following the 3-0 defeat. "Why I subbed him was because we are 2-0 down against an opponent as Liverpool, with their qualities, they are very good.

"We had to take risks because we want to bounce back, then you need players in midfield to cover ground, therefore we put Toby Collyer on the pitch.

"I think that in football everyone has to take responsibility. I’m sure he is a great character and he won everything in his career that you can imagine. I am sure he will keep contributing to our team and Casemiro is always winning so he will be there."

Liverpool.com says: "There's no doubt Casemiro is one of the best midfielder's of his generation. You don't play for Real Madrid for nearly 10 years without being one of the best in the world. But it is clear now the Brazilian is not the player he was.

"While he will be disappointed by his performance against Liverpool, United boss Erik ten Hag should take some of the flak for putting him in a position to have to go up against a midfield trio full of energy in Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch."
