Roy Keane piled praise on Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian shone in Liverpool's victory over Manchester United on Sunday . Salah scored Liverpool's third goal of the game, rubber-stamping the Reds' victory after Luis Diaz's first-half brace.

The 32-year-old has started the season in impressive fashion, scoring three times and registering three assists in the opening three games of the campaign, and Keane praised his 'world-class' ability after the Reds' latest humiliation of Manchester United.

“Talk about world-class performance, he was brilliant," Keane said on Sky Sports. "He’s a threat, his little touches. When you’re watching him live you see the bigger picture. I really enjoy watching him. You’ve got to give credit where it’s due. He’s a world-class player.”

A statistic emerged after Liverpool's win over United, which showed that only four players have scored more goals at Old Trafford than Salah (10) since January 24th, 2021.

Salah is the top scorer in the fixture's history with 15 goals and said afterwards that Liverpool is targeting the title this season.

“A great result,” Salah told Sky Sports. “Everyone knows the derby is important for the fans and the city. We need to carry on and if you want to fight for the league you have to win each game.

"I managed to be involved in three [goals] so I am happy about that. The manager likes us to press high and there was a couple of mistakes and we managed to use them - it was part of the plan.”

Salah also admitted to being surprised at how easy the game was for Liverpool, with United coming in for serious criticism for their sub-par performance against their biggest rivals.

"I was a little surprised [at how easy it was]. The game could have finished five or six," Salah said. “The new manager comes with his style and he wants everyone to adapt, he had a few meetings with senior groups saying, 'You need to set an example for the younger players and you need to work hard.' I think we're following his system well and hopefully we carry on like that.”
