Roy Keane was left taken aback when Liverpool's head coach Arne Slot pointed out Manchester United's tactical shortcomings.

The Reds secured a 3-0 victory in the Premier League face-off at Old Trafford on Sunday, bagging all three points. Luis Diaz netted twice in the first half, with Mohamed Salah also making his mark, as Liverpool continued its flawless start to the season.

This win positions the Reds second in the Premier League table, trailing behind leaders Manchester City only by goal difference. Following the triumph, Slot spoke to Sky Sports, where he was joined by Keane and former Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge.

The Liverpool boss was asked if any clues from United's tactics in past games influenced his strategy for Sunday's match. "Last season they had a man-marking system in the midfield and a press with the striker and one of the wingers, this season they are with a more No.9 and No.10 press, so a 4-4-2," said Slot.

"So that's different, of course. In my opinion, I see them working harder if the ball is being played through them so they run more. That's at least what I saw in the first games of them (this season)."

United legend Keane was taken aback by Slot's tactical breakdown of United's soft spots and sought further explanation on one aspect of the strategy. With all three goals resulting from Liverpool's high-press success, Keane probed into Slot's tactical mind.

Keane asked: "Did you know if you won the ball high up the pitch you would be straight at them, really? As simple as that, if you could win it high up?"

Slot replied: "Their style this season and maybe last season as well, their full-backs are really high and Casemiro comes in between. So if you can get the ball and keep Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah high then you are constantly in a one-vs-one situation.

"Then you need midfielders that can run and we had three of them today, who kept on running. And if they arrive in a duel, they are aggressive enough to win it, so that was one of the main things why we could win today."
