Alisson has quietly explained big advantage Arne Slot has just given Liverpool

It is a big compliment to Arne Slot that it is starting to feel normal that Liverpool has a new man in the dugout. Jurgen Klopp will far from be forgotten, but his successor could hardly have made a better start to life at Anfield .

In his first three matches in charge, Liverpool has scored seven times and conceded none. The emphatic victory at Old Trafford wasn't quite enough to convince a blinkered Gary Neville , but it was a statement showing nonetheless.

Already, there is some evidence that while Klopp clearly made a huge impact at Liverpool and would have continued doing exactly that, the change has been no bad thing. As Alisson Becker suggested at the weekend, the team has reacted well to Slot coming in.

"I [still] love Jurgen Klopp," Alisson said. "I will love him for the rest of my life, he knows that. But the determination, the quality of our manager [Arne Slot] and the way he works... He demands from the team."

With a new man to impress, for many players, there was a clean slate from which to begin. Luis Diaz looks to have gone up a level while Ryan Gravenberch has delivered performances that few thought possible . It is, it must be said, early days — but it is positive.

While each of those things could have happened with Klopp in charge, the fact that Slot has taken over has surely helped. After so long with one coach, switching things up and starting again resets the drive the determination levels and gives everyone a boost.

"Everyone is working their socks off," Alisson continued. "It's a third clean sheet in a row. It is not only that we are saving them at the back — the team is working so hard. This is the mentality that the manager wants us to have."

Liverpool.com says: With Slot coming in, everyone has had to refocus and fight for their place again. Diaz and Mohamed Salah look incredibly sharp while Dominik Szoboszlai has started the new era very well too. Ibrahima Konate needed a reset and Trent Alexander-Arnold appears to have more clarity over his positioning.

None of that, clearly, is to downplay what Klopp did, but a change can have its advantages too, as Alisson alluded to. Slot coming in has given a new lease of life to some players even despite the short turnaround and limited rest period this summer.
