Federico Chiesa shows what he's capable of many times in Liverpool training

Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa has trained with the Reds' U21s side under coach Barry Lewtas while his teammates are away on international duty. And the Italian, signed from Juventus this summer, has already given an exciting glimpse of what he can produce.

Chiesa was filmed by the Liverpool media team firing shots into the top corner, finishing from a tight angle, and going through a series of drills. The 26-year-old is still building up match fitness having not played a competitive match since the European Championship ended for his nation this summer.

And after moving to Merseyside for a cut-price fee that could reach $16.4m (£12.5m/€14.8m) , he opted against joining up with the Italian national team during the international break. Instead, he is using the time to settle into his new club and training hard behind the scenes to get back up to speed.

"Chiesa and I spoke and made a fair assessment," Italy boss Luciano Spalletti said. "I would have brought him as an extra player, not participating in the games. He told me that he had spoken to his new club and that he needs to do specific preparation work with them."

Chiesa could make his Liverpool debut after the international break with the visit to Anfield of Nottingham Forest coming next weekend. The Reds are then set to face two games per week for the foreseeable future with the Champions League and Carabao Cup kicking in.

Liverpool.com says: Chiesa has looked sharp in training and while his injuries are a clear concern, if he stays fit, he could prove to be a Liverpool transfer masterstroke. He won't be needed in every minute of every game and that means Arne Slot should be able to manage him as and when that is necessary.
