Just days after their fiery exchange on Sky Sports following Liverpool's triumph over Manchester United , Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have locked horns once more .

Liverpool managed to put United to the sword with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Old Trafford, courtesy of a Luis Diaz double and a second half goal from Mohamed Salah. The Reds went into the international break with an unblemished, 100 percent record.

In contrast, United suffered back-to-back defeats to Liverpool and Brighton following an opening day victory against Fulham, piling pressure on Ten Hag. On Sunday, Carragher and Neville engaged in a heated debate about United's decision to retain the Dutchman following a disappointing previous season.

Despite defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final, United ended up eighth in the Premier League, prompting them to contemplate a replacement for Ten Hag during the summer. However, the club decided to stick with its manager, even offering him a new contract, a move which Carragher argues was misguided.

And just days after their clash on Sky Sports, the two pundits are at it again, this time on "The Overlap" . Here is the full fiery exchange between the pundits...

Carragher: "I can't believe what United did after the FA Cup final. He was probably on trial after INEOS came in. They must have been thinking about his future before they beat City at Wembley. You review the season as it goes on, not at the end. We know United's owners were thinking about sacking him. They should have come out straight after the FA Cup final and backed him. Now we are saying he is under pressure after losing two matches!"

Neville: "I think there was some sentiment after the final. The fans wanted Ten Hag to be kept on and backed. They have seen enough managers sacked over the years. I think they sounded out Graham Potter, Gareth Southgate, Roberto De Zerbi and Thomas Tuchel around that time. But there was a bit of a negative reaction from fans.

"There is no doubt they were having a flirt around the market and seeing what they could do. I think if there was an unbelievable manager that could improve United 100 percent, beyond what Ten Hag could, they would have made a change. Liverpool had six months to replace Jurgen Klopp and still found it challenging to get their top targets."

Carragher : "Where are you getting it from that Arne Slot wasn't Liverpool's top target?"

Neville : "We do record these episodes you know and I do have a memory. You said they would definitely be going for Xabi Alonso."

Carragher : "That is my opinion! I am sure they did ask about Alonso and were told straight away that he was staying at Bayer Leverkusen. How do we know exactly what went on behind the scenes at Liverpool?"
