Dominik Szoboszlai names Liverpool's 'strongest player' - and it's not who you'd expect

Dominik Szoboszlai has named Liverpool's 'strongest player' - and it's not who Reds fans would expect.

The Reds are gearing up for their return to domestic action this weekend following the recent international break and are aiming for another three points in Saturday's clash with Nottingham Forest .

Mohamed Salah , Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have all been in impressive form and are the sole providers of Liverpool's goals and assists so far this season, although the defense is also due its praise after keeping three clean sheets.

But it is Salah, in particular, who has been earning all the plaudits for his early season form, with three goals and three assists in just three games, but also for other aspects of his game and general profile. For starters, the Egyptian returned to pre-season at the start of summer in impeccable condition.

And that has now paid dividends when it comes to the discussion of Liverpool's strongest player, with Szoboszlai surprisingly - or now perhaps unsurprisingly - naming Salah as the holder of that title.

That's right, despite the 32-year-old's 5ft 9in frame, Szoboszlai believes Salah is the strongest player in the Liverpool side. Speaking on the club's YouTube channel, the Hungarian said: “Yeah, he’s really strong. I could go for it that he is the strongest in the team."

But perhaps that is a fair assessment, given Salah's aforementioned ripped physique that stunned Liverpool teammates, staff and fans upon the squad's return to pre-season training in July. In fact, the winger has never looked in better shape.

However, many people's first thought would have been Virgil van Dijk when asked to name Liverpool's strongest player, given his 6ft 5in frame and general physicality as a center-back. Likewise, Ibrahima Konate boasts similar traits.

You could also make similar statements for goalkeeping duo Alisson and Caoimhin Kelleher , fellow defenders Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez , midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and even Darwin Nunez . Not the relatively small, nippy winger.

But Salah has claimed the crown and perhaps deserves it, given how much he works on his all-round fitness and physique . His house is reportedly fitted with two gym rooms, cryotherapy facilities and a hyperbaric chamber so that he can take care of himself at all times - and even works out at 2am during Ramadan.

On top of this, Salah also finished top of Liverpool's pre-season fitness test tables , proving he pretty much has just about everything in his locker, while also further highlighting his longevity in the game.
