Liverpool sees 3 fixtures changes confirmed as Arne Slot misses out on Real Madrid advantage

The Premier League has confirmed that Liverpool's top-flight matches against Aston Villa (home), Southampton (away) and Manchester City (home) have all been moved for television .

The Aston Villa match will now be on Saturday, November 8 at 8pm UK time (12pm west coast and 3pm east coast in the USA). That comes the weekend after the Champions League visit of Xabi Alonso and Bayer Leverkusen and is the final fixture before the November international break.

The trip to Southampton has switched to 2pm UK time (6am west coast and 9am east coast in the USA) on Sunday, November 24, while the visit to Anfield of Manchester City will be at 4pm UK time (8am west coast and 11am east coast in the USA) on Sunday, December 1.

The visit of Brighton remains at 3pm UK time (7am west coast and 10am east coast in the USA) on Saturday, November 2. The fixture changes for December and January are expected to be announced on or by October 14.

Liverpool.com says: The Aston Villa and Manchester City fixtures being moved to be shown live on television in the UK is not a surprise in the slightest and the times of those matches probably benefits the Reds. But the match with Southampton, which comes immediately after the November international break, could have been better-placed.

Liverpool will now play in the Premier League on the Sunday of that weekend rather than the Saturday. That means that Arne Slot and his players will have one day fewer to prepare for the visit of Real Madrid in the Champions League the following Wednesday. That extra day could have been crucial to the Reds' chances of success in Europe.

Real Madrid will travel to play Leganes in La Liga before coming to Anfield. There is no confirmed date or time of that match yet but even if it is on the Sunday, Liverpool has missed out on a potential advantage. The tight turnaround will be a challenge for Slot to rotate his roster enough to keep key players fit and able to take part in as many matches as possible.
