Liverpool confirms 22-man Premier League roster as 4 absences including Jarell Quansah explained

Liverpool has informed the Premier League of its 22-man roster for the forthcoming season , as it is required to do under the competition rules. And while the likes of Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah are missing from the list, there is no reason for concern.

As is the case in European competitions, those players are not listed because they are homegrown and under the age of 21. The same goes for Conor Bradley and Trey Nyoni .

For this season, players who are born on or after 1 January 2003 can be named on a separate list. That is the same as what happens in the Champions League . Academy player Tom Hill has been included on the main list as he is soon turning 22, though he is unlikely to make it onto the pitch at senior level.

Liverpool has good depth in most areas of the field, though Elliott is now set to spend a few weeks sidelined with a foot injury . The failure to land Martin Zubimendi leaves a bit of a question mark in midfield regarding both quality and numbers too.

Federico Chiesa's bargain move from Juventus, though, could be a masterstroke . The Italian was snapped up for just $16m (£12m/€14m) and could make his debut against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

LIVERPOOL PREMIER LEAGUE ROSTER IN FULL: Alisson Becker, Viteszlav Jaros, Caoimhin Kelleher; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas, Virgil van Dijk; Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberch, Thomas Hill, Curtis Jones, Alexis Mac Allister, Tyler Morton, Dominik Szoboszlai; Federico Chiesa, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota.

Liverpool.com says: There is quality all over the pitch for Arne Slot to make the most of this season but he will need almost every player on the list if the Reds are to achieve their aims. Liverpool will need to be more fortunate with injuries this time around but the hope is that the more controlled style of play can help with that.
