Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong shared some love with Callum Hudson-Odoi after the latter's goal for Nottingham Forest against Liverpool at Anfield.

The former Chelsea youngster, entering as a second-half substitute , was pivotal in seizing all the spoils for his side on Saturday in what was an electrifying display for the visiting fans. Arne Slot tasted his first bout of defeat with Liverpool in the 1-0 loss.

Despite dominating the ball and chalking up five attempts at goal, the Reds couldn't turn the screws and showcase the clinical edge seen in their opening three fixtures. Liverpool witnessed its immaculate start to the season cut short amid the bustling atmosphere of a packed Anfield, with keeper Alisson Becker conceding his first goal of the campaign.

After a standout performance, Hudson-Odoi took to Instagram with a celebratory post captioned: "Today, we did good."

The post caught the eye of many, including Frimpong, who dropped a fire and heart emoji in response. Despite summer rumors linking him to Anfield and other elite clubs, Frimpong stayed put at Bayer Leverkusen.

With the January transfer window approaching, Liverpool might revisit its interest in the right-back. Earlier in February, when quizzed about joining the Reds by Ziggo Sport, Frimpong expressed admiration for the club: "Liverpool is a great club with history. That would be great. Who knows what the future will bring."

Reacting to Saturday's game, Alisson told BBC Sport: "It was a shame, losing points at home is not good at all but the opponent today only wanted to defend and play for the long ball. We gave them that too easily when they scored, it was poor defensively from us.

"We couldn't create much, we had a lack of quality today, we needed more energy. It is three points we have lost today unnecessarily. All the opportunities we had were not clear enough and they defended great, they threw themselves in front of the ball."
