Alisson takes aim at Liverpool teammates after Nottingham Forest defeat - 'It was poor'

Alisson Becker has taken aim at his Liverpool teammates after the Reds’ surprise defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Arne Slot suffered his first defeat as head coach at Anfield as Callum Hudson-Odoi’s goal proved to be enough to give the visitors a 1-0 victory against a misfiring Liverpool side .

Having returned from the international break looking to extend a perfect record after three straight wins, the Reds looked all out of sorts . The likes of Mohamed Salah , Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szoboszlai all struggled to even play the simplest of passes.

And summing up the defeat, Alisson didn’t hold back in his assessment of his teammates, pointing the finger of blame at the substitutes and his defenders for making it to easy for Hudson-Odoi to beat him from distance.

“We didn’t manage to play better – when we made the subs – with the ball,” Alisson, told Sky Sports .

“We didn’t create so many clear chances. Because they defended really well but also a little bit of poor football from our side today.

“We didn’t adapt quick enough. We conceded three counter-attacks before we conceded a goal on a counter-attack. We should defend it better in those situations.

“Hudson-Odoi had too much freedom to do whatever he wanted with the ball, dribbling inside and shooting. It was poor defending from us.”

Liverpool and Alisson will hope to bounce back from that shock at the weekend as they begin their Champions League campaign tomorrow at AC Milan. Having resisted the urge to make changes to his side on Saturday, Slot will likely be looking at some adjustments this time around, especially with the fixtures now coming thick and fast.

Liverpool.com says: Well, you can’t really argue with Alisson there. Liverpool was just so poor on Saturday, and it just felt like it was never going to be the Reds’ day once Hudson-Odoi put Forest ahead.

Watching Salah, a player who had been in scintillating form during the opening three games, constantly pass the ball behind his teammates just summed Liverpool’s performance up, with not one player coming away with any credit. They need to bounce back quickly and get their Champions League campaign underway in the best possible manner tomorrow in Milan, which certainly will not be an easy task.
