Arne Slot has been able to call on all but one of his players for Liverpool's trip to AC Milan in the Champions League.

The Reds' travelling squad for the trip to Italy was confirmed on Monday, and the injured Harvey Elliott was the only senior absentee from the 23-strong group selected by Slot.

Elliott is facing several weeks on the sidelines after fracturing his foot during the recent international break, and will not return until after the October international break.

Federico Chiesa could make his debut for Liverpool after being named among the travelling squad. The Italian was a somewhat surprise absentee from the squad for the defeat by Nottingham Forest but will hope to turn out for his new club for the first time at the San Siro.

Chiesa has a brilliant record at the famous old stadium from his Fiorentina and Juventus days. For Fiorentina, Chiesa either scored or assisted in each of his four appearances away to Milan, registering a total of three assists and scoring two goals. Meanwhile, he scored twice in two appearances there for Juventus.

Speaking during his press conference on Monday, Slot unsurprisingly all but confirmed that Chiesa will not start in Italy.

"He is in our team selection (squad) for the first time, it would be a big surprise for everybody if he would start tomorrow," Slot said. "I don't think you should expect that he will start but he should make a few minutes if we need him. He's been training on his own at Juve for a long time, it's too early for him to play 90 minutes but hopefully he can make his first minutes in the upcoming fixtures."
