Arne Slot insists he will "remember" Liverpool's win against AC Milan on Tuesday.

The Reds enjoyed a convincing victory in the San Siro thanks to goals from Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai. Christian Pulisic opened the scoring for Milan, but it was Liverpool who picked up three important Champions League points .

Liverpool defeated Ipswich, Brentford and Manchester United before September's international break to make a perfect start to the Premier League season. Yet Slot's players suffered a surprise 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday, casting doubt over their chances of winning silverware under Jurgen Klopp's successor this season.

Yet confidence was brought back to Merseyside on Tuesday thanks to Liverpool's win in Italy. Slot has suggested the victory could be a defining moment of his Anfield tenure. "To come back so strong and dominant, it was a deserved victory," he told Sky Italy. "This is an evening I will remember in the future. Hopefully many more times like this will come as Liverpool manager."

Slot will also remember Tuesday fondly because he celebrated his 46th birthday. "A great way to spend my birthday." Slot added to Amazon Prime Video. "We have more than 11 players and the ones that came in did well.

"You wouldn't have said this after five minutes, but after we did well. Losing Saturday was a blow and to be 1-0 down early tonight, you are wondering how we react. But if you can play so good it is - I won't say a disgrace - unbelievable you lose to Forest at home if you can play like this today.

"I would have played Cody Gakpo on Saturday but he played two games for the national side. Today was more a team display than an individual display."

Liverpool must now get back to winning ways in the Premier League. The team's next game is against Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday, a fixture Slot and his players can't take lightly after the Forest debacle.
