Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has suggested that no player in the world could improve the team that he plays for. The Reds came to the same conclusion in the summer transfer market, at least in terms of those stars who would be realistically available.

Speaking to TV2 Sport for a TikTok video, Alisson was asked about the Champions League player he would most like the Reds to sign. When the Scandinavian outlet suggested that it might be Manchester City's Erling Haaland , the Brazilian insisted that he is happy with his current teammates.

"Maybe [the player who I could sign] would be on the bench," Alisson said. "I have a really good team and I trust my players. I would not change any of my players."

Liverpool tried to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad in the summer but couldn't get a deal over the line because the player wasn't sold on leaving Spain. After that move didn't come off, no alternative was sought.

There is an argument that Arne Slot's side has been left one short of numbers in the middle of the pitch as a result, not least with Harvey Elliott set to be sidelined with an interest for a few weeks. For now, though, Liverpool has only slipped up against Nottingham Forest this season, winning each of its other four matches in all competitions.

Liverpool.com says: Our answer? Probably Rodri. He's the best in the world in his position, even though Ryan Gravenberch is doing a great job at the moment as a number six. The Manchester City man is comfortably better than any other number six in the world at the moment and that is a position Liverpool has been looking to sign a world-class option in for some time.
