Arne Slot has confirmed Alisson Becker is expected to return for Liverpool against Wolves , with the goalkeeper back in training.

Alisson has missed Liverpool’s last two games after picking up an injury before the Champions League clash against AC Milan last week. Although the Brazilian played at the San Siro, the problem worsened thereafter, keeping him out of the games against Bournemouth and West Ham.

Caoimhin Kelleher deputized for him, with Slot revealing ahead of the Carabao Cup tie earlier this week that Alisson was hoped to be fit for Saturday’s trip to Wolves, although he admitted it would be ‘tight’ .

Slot has now confirmed Alisson is expected to return tomorrow at Molineux, having made his return to training this week.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference, the Liverpool boss said: "We think he is. He trained yesterday as part of the group, so we expect him to do the whole session today. We think he's available, but of course we need to train today.

"We are really happy with Alisson being back, but I want to emphasize the fact that Caoimhin did really well in the two games he was involved for us, so another example of me having two, and I think even three, good options in goal."

If Alisson does return against Wolves, he will be coming up against a side that has claimed just one point from its opening five league games so far. Slot though is not underestimating the challenge ahead of his side.

"I don’t think it represents the way they’ve (Wolves) played, and they had a very tough fixture list," Slot added. "In the first five games I think they played Arsenal away, Newcastle away, Villa away, Chelsea at home.

"That’s a more difficult schedule than we have for example, so you always have to take this into account, of course I had to watch a few games of them because we play them tomorrow and I can see that the games were very tight and they deserved more than they got a few times.

"I think they will be fine during the season, hopefully not tomorrow, but they will be fine at the end of the season."

Liverpool.com says: As good as Kelleher is, it is of course a big boost to have Alisson back. Having the world's best goalkeeper makes a difference, no matter how good your backup option is.
