Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Borussia Dortmund's star player, Karim Adeyemi. It is claimed that the Reds might consider signing Adeyemi as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah in the long run.

It has been reported by Sport Bild that Liverpool are scouting for players who could fill Salah's boots if the Egyptian international decides to leave Anfield at the end of this season. Salah's current contract is due to expire in 2025, and it's still uncertain whether the 32 year old will sign an extension.

The report indicates that Liverpool have identified Adeyemi as a possible transfer target for the coming year. It's been noted that the Reds have frequently dispatched scouts to observe the German international's performance in the Bundesliga and have liked what they've seen.

  • Adeyemi made his move to Dortmund in 2022 from Red Bull Salzburg, around which time he was loosely linked with Liverpool. A deal said to be worth $42m was struck between the two clubs, with Adeyemi's contract at Signal Iduna Park running until 2027.

Adeyemi has made quite an impression with Dortmund this season, netting five goals and providing five assists across eight appearances in all competitions. Although Adeyemi has played on both wings for the Bundesliga club this term, manager Nuri Sahin typically deploys him on the left side of the forward line.

Liverpool already boasts a strong lineup of forwards who can take on the left wing. Arne Slot's go-to choices for this position have been Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo, while Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota have also played on the left side of the forward line during their time at Anfield.

The summer transfer window saw Liverpool bolstering their right wing options with the signing of Federico Chiesa from Juventus. The Italian international has only made three appearances since his £12.5 million move from Turin in August.
