During Liverpool's victory over Crystal Palace , a cheeky young fan surprised TNT Sports analyst Joe Cole by requesting Mohamed Salah's signature instead of his own.

Whilst on pundit duty alongside Peter Crouch, Cole was beckoned by a young supporter who appeared to be after a moment with the ex- Liverpool midfielder. However, it turned out they had their sights set on a different Reds' hero, Salah.

"Talking of kids, Joe has just been called over by a kid in the crowd," said presenter Lynsey Hipgrave during the broadcast. "He thought they wanted a selfie but they actually gave him a piece of paper.."

  • Cole described the unexpected moment: "He asked me to get Mo Salah to sign it for him, but I'm not sure what Arne Slot would make of me knocking on his door at half-time asking him to sign something."

The match concluded with Diogo Jota securing Liverpool's win as a lone goal ensured the Merseysiders stayed clear at the summit before players depart for international duties. Reflecting on the satisfaction of entering the break in pole position, manager Arne Slot expressed his contentment: "Mostly for me it's special," he said.

"Players go to their national team and they think of the national team, but for me if I lose it is three to four days of being unhappy. I think my wife will be happy as she will have someone home who is happy.

"Really satisfied with how we started the season. It is a good start not only the results, but I liked our performance today. There was a period of the game we conceded free-kicks and that was a difficult period. For the last 10 minutes we kept the ball very well."

"The fixtures [after the break] are difficult, but I have felt how difficult Wolves and Palace are away. It is good that we have won these games and it is up to us to show ourselves in the big games."

Captain Virgil van Dijk added: "We keep going and we keep working. We are never satisfied. We needed Alli [Alisson] twice, but that is what we try to avoid. Everyone is contributing to clean sheets."

"I think there is always expectations towards different teams - whatever the outside world thinks of us we don't really care. We want to try challenge, compete, win and be successful."
