Alisson could miss all of Liverpool's matches between the October and November international breaks after it was reported that the Brazil goalkeeper will be sidelined for six weeks.

Alisson was taken off during the second half of last weekend's win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park after going down with a hamstring injury, and scans early this week have revealed the extent of the problem.

The 32-year-old was visibly frustrated as he received treatment prior to departing the field of play, and Arne Slot will no doubt be feeling similarly frustrated at the prospect of heading into a run of tricky fixtures without his No.1 goalkeeper.

Liverpool plays seven times before November's round of internationals, with Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen and Aston Villa among the Reds' opponents.

Speaking after taking Alisson off against Palace, Slot admitted he expected to be without Alisson when the season resumed after the October international break. The Dutchman said: "It is a tough run of fixtures. We probably won't be as dominant as we were today when we play Arsenal. All fixtures are difficult. It is up to us to show up in the big games. Unfortunately Ali will not be with us in those matches, I assume, because of how he walked off."

Alisson missed games against Bournemouth and West Ham in September due to a hamstring injury and Virgil van Dijk said after the win over Palace that it appeared as though the 'keeper had aggravated the problem. "Alisson's injury doesn't look good," Van Dijk said. "It looks like a hamstring injury which was already bothering him, and from which he recovered."

Alisson also missed a chunk of games last season, most notably throughout February and March, due to a hamstring problem. Caoimhin Kelleher deputised for him on that occasion and will again step in for the former Roma goalkeeper during Liverpool's crucial run of upcoming fixtures.

Kelleher was not on the bench for the win at Palace due to illness, with Vitezslav Jaros coming on in Alisson's place, but he should be fine to line up against Chelsea on October 20.
