Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is set for a spell on the sidelines, which will see him miss critical fixtures against Chelsea, Arsenal, and Bayer Leverkusen.

The Brazilian shot-stopper had to be substituted during the narrow 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, raising concerns over a potential hamstring problem. Liverpool boss Arne Slot wasn't brimming with optimism regarding an early return to action for the keeper.

Slot expressed concern, noting: "With Alisson it is clear he will be out for maybe a few weeks. If a player walks off like he does, that normally means he's not in the Brazil squad, and I don't expect him to be in the first game afterwards. It'll take a few weeks I assume."

  • Curtis Jones made classy gesture to Vitezslav Jaros during surprise Liverpool debut
  • 'He's cold' - I played against this bench player at Liverpool and he stood out
  • And as it turns out, Alisson is indeed facing a lengthy absence. The leading man between the sticks won't be back until after the November international break at the earlies.

Such a layoff translates to Alisson missing a whopping seven matches for the Merseyside outfit. This includes a high-octane encounter with Chelsea post-international break, followed by RB Leipzig in the Champions League group stage match-up.

The schedule won't ease up either, with Liverpool heading to Emirates Stadium for a scuffle with title contenders Arsenal on October 27. Post that, they're back for two consecutive home games against Brighton - one in the Carabao Cup and another in the league.

The Anfield side then faces a stern European challenge, locking horns with German titans Bayer Leverkusen come November 5. Liverpool's grueling fixture period wraps up with a clash against Aston Villa at their home turf.

Despite Alisson's absence, Slot remains confident in Liverpool's ability to adapt. He stated: "Alisson is our clear No. 1, the best goalkeeper in the world so it's a blow when he gets injured for himself and the team.

"Caoimhin [Kelleher] has already shown that, which is why Caoimhin is the No. 2 and the last time, Alisson was injured, I played Caoimhin. He did really well, it's pleasing to see that our third goalkeeper can have an impact on results as Caoimhin was ill yesterday and today."

Kelleher has made two appearances for Liverpool so far this season - against Bournemouth in the Premier League and during the 5-1 League Cup win against West Ham. The Irishman made 26 appearances for Liverpool last term and kept five clean sheets.

In addition to Alisson, Liverpool may also be without Alexis Mac Allister upon their return. Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa are still working through their own issues.
