What Trent Alexander-Arnold told Eberechi Eze about future after Liverpool transfer links

Trent Alexander-Arnold revealed he spoke to Eberechi Eze about his future amid transfer talks linking the England star with a move to Liverpool .

The Reds right-back may have been getting his agent talk on during international breaks with the Crystal Palace midfielder as it appears Alexander-Arnold may have been confiding with Eze about their transfer plans in the future.

And according to Football Insider , Eze could be making his way to Anfield with the Reds said to be interested in signing the 26-year-old to strengthen their attacking options. Liverpool have reportedly joined Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in the race to sign him, with a $89m (£68m) release clause to become active in his contract next summer.

  • However, it’s said that Palace could look to cash in on their star with Eze having just two years left on his current deal. They add that sources say offers between £65m-$79m (£50m-£60m) could tempt the Eagles into selling as they look to turn a major profit on the star they signed for around £17million in 2020.

Eze’s future has long been discussed in the media and by pundits given his exceptional performance in the red and blue but it appears that the player himself has also been deliberating his next steps with Alexander-Arnold during their time together with England. The Reds defender admitted he spoke about his long-term future with the Palace man.

"This was a conversation I had last camp with (Eberechi) Eze when we're going to Ireland," Alexander-Arnold revealed. "I was on the coach down to the airport and we had this conversation. I said, you know, that there's a chance I may never win another trophy in my career again. There's a chance of that. There's a chance I win many, many more."

Alexander-Arnold continued to open up on his perspective of a successful career, although he admitted he’s at a crossroads ahead of a major decision. "You'll only know the morning after you retire. You'll look yourself in the mirror, and you'll have a feeling of either regret or satisfaction of what you have achieved,” he added.

The boyhood Liverpool ace sees his Reds contract expire in the coming summer and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, potentially as a free agent. While no decision has yet been announced by either party, it appears all outcomes are still on the table.

Meanwhile, for Eze, it seems a matter of time before he heads out of the Selhurst Park exit door for a club with higher expectations and ambitions than Palace. Eze saw his former partner in crime Michael Olise join Bayern Munich in the summer and may look for a similar challenge having played over 130 games for Palace and being set to add to his nine England caps in the international break having made an impact off the bench at Euro 2024.
