Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson will be available to face Liverpool in the next round of Premier League matches after he escaped retrospective punishment from the FA for shoving Nottingham Forest defender Morato in the face on Sunday.

Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been charged, however, after a melee in the fiery draw. Jackson’s reaction after he ran from the substitutes’ bench was studied by VAR Jarred Gillett, who decided it did not constitute violent conduct. Given that it was looked at during the game, the authorities have decided against taking any further action .

Footage of the incident at Stamford Bridge emerged showing Jackson, who had been substituted at that point, appearing to slap Morato while both sets of players squared up to one another. Ex-Reds full-back Neco Williams pushed Marc Cucurella into Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca and then those on the pitch got involved.

An FA statement read: "It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 88th minute. Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have until Thursday, 10 October, to provide their responses."

Liverpool will host Chelsea at Anfield after the international break. Cucurella and Wesley Fofana are both set to miss the game because of a suspension having already picked up five yellow cards despite there only having been seven Premier League fixtures so far this season. Reece James is currently out injured.

Liverpool.com says: The Chelsea game will be an interesting opportunity for Liverpool to put down a marker. If the Reds can win well then that would send a signal to the rest of the league that they are real title challengers. Chelsea has been playing well lately but looks more likely to be a top-four contender rather than getting close to the top three.
