Arne Slot 'set to raid' former club Feyenoord for latest hire to Liverpool coaching team

Feyenoord's video analyst has agreed to join Liverpool. It is reported by 1908.nl that the 33-year-old Roderick van der Ham will join Arne Slot's backroom staff at Anfield after more than two seasons in Rotterdam.

Slot has already brought a number of staff members with him from his old club, with Sipke Hulshoff (assistant coach) and Ruben Peeters (performance coach) both making the move to Anfield in the summer.

Van der Ham joined Feyenoord in the summer of 2022, a year after Slot's appointment as manager, and was on the Liverpool manager's staff for Feyenoord's 2022-23 Eredvisie win as well as the club's 2023-24 Dutch Cup win.

Van der Ham previously worked as a video analyst for RKC Waalwijk, Heracles Almelo and the Netherlands' Under-19 team. He also previously held a role as a fitness coach with NAC Breda.

It has not been confirmed exactly when Van der Ham will move to Anfield, but the wording of the report suggests that the switch is imminent.

Liverpool's fans will hope Van der Ham can supplement the good work that has clearly already done by his former Feyenoord colleagues, with the Reds having won nine of their opening 10 matches in all competitions.

The only blot on Slot's start to life as Liverpool boss remains the defeat by Nottingham Forest, which occurred immediately after the September international break. Liverpool has won each of its other seven Premier League games, as well as two Champions League matches and an EFL Cup match.

Slot will be aiming for a different outcome to that Forest match when Liverpool resumes it season following the October international break, with Chelsea visiting Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool's injury concerns were eased by the return of Alexis Mac Allister for Argentina on Tuesday night , but there are concerns over Wataru Endo, Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliott and Alisson.

Endo missed Japan's match against Australia through illness, while Chiesa did not figure in Liverpool's final two games prior to the international break due to a muscle problem and Elliott is still in the recovery phase after sustaining a foot fracture in September.

Elliott is back in light training but Chiesa's prognosis remains unclear, with Slot likely to be questioned on the Italian's state when he addresses the media during a press conference on Friday.

Alisson, meanwhile, is due to be sidelined until after the November international break with a hamstring injury, opening the door for Caoimhin Kelleher to deputise for the Brazilian in the coming weeks. Kelleher was not on the bench for the win over Palace due to illness but played twice for Ireland during the international break and is expected to line up against Chelsea on Sunday.
