The international break has not provided any relief for Manchester United , with Erik ten Hag facing a growing injury list ahead of the Red Devils' clash with Brentford .

The Bees are set to visit Old Trafford in an attempt to add to Ten Hag's woes , as United aim to halt a five-match winless streak. The hosts may have to do so without summer recruit Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan was forced off during his country's draw with Ecuador, suffering from muscle pain in his right thigh.

Ten Hag will be hoping for better news regarding his players who withdrew from international duty. Kobbie Mainoo pulled out of England's squad with a hamstring issue, Amad Diallo withdrew from Ivory Coast's team due to illness, and Alejandro Garnacho opted out of Argentina's fixtures against Venezuela and Bolivia because of knee problems.

Noussair Mazraoui also missed out on Morocco's squad and faces an uncertain recovery period after undergoing a minor precautionary procedure following heart palpitations. This leaves United with Diogo Dalot as its only senior full-back, with Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw still recovering.

Earlier this month, Ten Hag suggested that Malacia still needed to join team training, while Shaw could return after the international break.

"We hope Luke can return after the international break quickly," said the54-year-old. "I don't know if it's the first game, we're hoping for [it], but I can't, in this moment, tell this with 100 per cent security. But, yeah, from now on, we have two-and-a-half weeks to work to that point. And, shortly after, he'll be there."

United, on another note, won't have Harry Maguire's services for a while as he limped off the pitch against Aston Villa and is facing weeks out with a calf injury.

The 31-year-old's absence adds to United's woes along with Leny Yoro, the French youngster sidelined and expected back next month following surgery for a pre-season injury. Finally, Mason Mount’s circumstances remain in doubt post his head injury and knock sustained in September's match versus Tottenham, which forced an early exit for the former Chelsea ace.
