Arne Slot has offered the latest update on the Liverpool injury situation with Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa among those who have missed matches recently.

"Alisson is for sure not with us in the coming weeks," Slot said during his press conference. "That's a blow for him and for us. The good thing is that Caoimhin Kelleher did really well for us."

Alexis Mac Allister and Wataru Endo were among those who missed matches while away on international duty during the break. But Slot says there are others who are managing problems as well after being away with their countries.

  • "Macca missed one game but played the second one," Slot continued. "Kostas [Tsimikas] missed the first game against England. We've got a few issues but let's see where we are after today."

Elliott has stepped up his recovery but the midfielder is likely to be out of the game with Chelsea. Chiesa's injury was only a minor one before the international break but there has been no real update on his situation just yet.

Liverpool.com says: International breaks are never periods that tend to go smoothly. There always seems to be some sort of issue that emerges! We will have to wait and see what the Liverpool roster looks like this weekend.

Slot will train with the squad later today and he might well simply have been being cautious given how many players have missed matches in the last couple of weeks. Liverpool fans will certainly hope that is the case and those who are not at 100 per cent fitness can come back into the team and perform well this weekend and beyond.
