Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has responded once again to a question about the three major contract situations that the Reds still need to get sorted out, with no further news yet on Trent Alexander-Arnold , Virgil van Dijk or Mohamed Salah .

During the international break, speculation has ramped up about the futures of each of the trio with there now being only 75 days until they can negotiate pre-contract agreements with clubs abroad ahead of free transfers next summer. Slot, though, has maintained his usual stance of giving little away.

"What is happening is they were with their national teams," Slot said when asked for the latest on the situations of the three players. "Trent scored a fantastic free-kick. Same question, same answer!

  • "There will always be talks and it is normal that you asked," he added. "If they played badly — not to say s--- this time! — it's a good thing you ask that if they renew because it says they play well. I cannot say anything about it as this time."

Alexander-Arnold played both games for England as the Three Lions lost to Greece and then beat Finland in the UEFA Nations League. But Van Dijk was sent off for the Netherlands against Germany and was therefore able to enjoy a rest instead of playing Belgium. Salah, meanwhile, was allowed to return to Merseyside early rather than risk injury while playing against Mauritania.

Liverpool.com says: Slot cannot really say anything about the contracts but he will continue to be asked about them. The case is strong for renewing each of them and losing any of Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk or Salah, especially for no transfer fee, would be a substantial blow. Hopefully, some positive news is not far around the corner, otherwise the chances of them leaving for nothing will fairly dramatically begin to increase.
