Man Utd's embarrassing request to Man City sums up its new terrible mentality

Manchester City has rejected a bold request from Manchester United to transport two of its players to the upcoming Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris. The reigning champions have arranged a private jet to fly their delegation to the prestigious event on Monday evening.

As per the Daily Mail , United enquired if there was any space for Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, both contenders for the Kopa Trophy. It's suggested that United felt sending two players on a private jet wouldn't reflect well on the club given the current climate.

However, United was informed by City that there was no additional room on their flight. This leaves United with the task of arranging its own transportation for Garnacho and Mainoo. Since acquiring a minority stake in the club last year, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has implemented various cost-cutting measures at United. The INEOS chief is keen to reduce unnecessary expenses as part of his mission to restore United's former glory.

Plans have been announced to cut 250 staff members, and certain staff privileges have been reduced or completely removed. Access to private cars for most staff members has been revoked, and those with hybrid working arrangements have been instructed to return to the office.

Earlier this month, The Athletic reported that Ratcliffe had scrapped plans for a festive bash for United's staff. However, the players' Christmas party is still on the cards unless Erik ten Hag decides to pull the plug following a rocky start to the season.

In another cost-saving move, Sir Alex Ferguson has been relieved of his ambassadorial role. A fortnight ago, the iconic Scot was reportedly informed that his hefty salary would cease at the end of the season.

Despite these changes, which were communicated in a personal meeting with Ratcliffe, Fergie is expected to stay on as a non-executive director at Old Trafford. Stay tuned for more updates, photos, and videos on this developing story.

Liverpool.com says: This is laughable from Manchester United. Cancelling parties, ruthless staff cuts and now asking its bitter rivals to share a plane?! Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
