Liverpool learns Premier League title fate after Arsenal draw in latest supercomputer prediction

Liverpool is being touted to finish third in the Premier League off the back of Sunday's intriguing 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium .

The Reds went into the weekend in top spot in the standings, but Manchester City beating Southampton coupled with Liverpool drawing against Arsenal saw Arne Slot's men drop into second place.

And the latest Supercomputer prediction tips Liverpool to finish the season lower still. The table, provided by JeffBet , has the Reds finishing the campaign in third place on 88 points, seven fewer than both Manchester City and Arsenal, who are tipped to finish level on points.

Goal difference is predicted to decide the destination of the title for just the second time in Premier League history, and it is City that is tipped to come out on top with a +57 goal difference to Arsenal's +48.

Liverpool is predicted to end the season with 29 wins, one draw and eight losses, scoring 81 goals and conceding 38. That amount of defeats seems like a lot considering the Reds have lost just one of their opening nine matches, and would require them to lose more than 25 per cent of their remaining top-flight games.

Chelsea is tipped to round out the top four, with Aston Villa, Brighton and Newcastle finishing in fifth, sixth and seventh respectively. Manchester United, meanwhile, is predicted to finish in its lowest-ever position — 12th — with a grand total of 50 points. That tally is as close to the relegation zone as it is to the top four.

Wolves, Ipswich and Southampton are tipped to go down, with Southampton finishing rock bottom with just 14 points, the second-lowest tally in Premier League history after Derby County's 11-point season in 2007-08.

Back in the real world, Liverpool boss Slot refused to get drawn into title discussions after Liverpool's draw with Arsenal. "I know you guys (reporters) like to talk about title contenders and where we are exactly in the league – that's also part of your job," Slot said. "The only thing I look at is, 'Can you get a result in a difficult away game as this one?' And the way we did it pleased me a lot and we're only nine or 10 games into the season.
