Orders On Ore Lake & Little Ore Lake In Hamburg Township Lifted
As of Thursday, July 18th the order prohibiting all water activities on Ore Lake and Little Ore Lake in Hamburg Township has been lifted. The Livingston County Health Department said recent water samples have shown bacteria levels below the state's safety threshold. Swimming, boating, and other recreational activities can resume.

Man pleads guilty in mPerks scheme that cost Meijer at least $1M
A Grand Haven man has pleaded guilty to selling Meijer customers’ mPerks account information in a scheme that cost the Michigan-based retailer more than $1 million. Nicholas Mui, 22, pleaded guilty this week to conducting a criminal enterprise and will forfeit about $630,000 in frozen cryptocurrency and cash along with his computer tower. He will be sentenced on Sept. 5 in Kent County.

LIVINGSTON COUNTY — A man convicted of killing his brother and sister-in-law in 2008 will return to the courtroom for a retrial at the end of September. Jerome Kowalski, 78, was convicted for the murders and sentenced to life in prison in 2013. When the judge in his case pled guilty to perjury in 2019, the convictions were overturned and Kowalski was awarded a new trial and later granted bond.

Health officials close Livingston County lake due to sewage discharge
(CBS DETROIT) - A lake in Livingston County, Michigan, has been shut down due to a break that caused sewage to be discharged into the lake. The Livingston County Health Department said swimming and other activities are prohibited on Ore Lake and Little Ore Lake until further notice, according to a release from the Hamburg Township Police Department. Officials say a sewer break on Branch Drive at Mohican caused sewage to flow from a manhole into a flooded area and Ore Lake.Crews were notified and immediately started implementing mediation procedures, including informing the county's health and emergency management departments.At 11:15 a.m. Sunday, health officials declared that water activities were prohibited on the lake until testing for E. coli has been conducted.A police boat was deployed so officers could enforce the order."The initial mitigation measures implemented drastically reduced the flow of sewage out of the sewer opening and by approximately 12:15 p.m. all discharge out of the sewer had ceased," police said.Efforts to repair the issue are ongoing.Anyone with questions can contact Hamburg Township Supervisor Pat Hohl at pathohl@hambug.mi.us.
