Brighton’s football team has seen enough of the Carr brothers the last two years.

A year ago, the Bulldogs faced current Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr, who threw for 308 yards during Saline’s 42-3 victory.

On Thursday, junior Tommy Carr threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as Saline beat Brighton, 41-20, in a season opener.

Carr’s 3-yard scramble with 9:06 left in the third quarter broke a 14-14 tie. He then extended Saline’s lead to 27-14 on a 34-yard touchdown pass to Jack Day with 19 seconds left in the third.

A 1-yard touchdown run by Jackson Johnson got Brighton within 27-20 with 8:34 left in the game, but the Hornets scored two more times on an 18-yard pass from Carr to LaDainian Woods and a 68-yard run by James Rush.

Lawrence Wells, an Ann Arbor Huron transfer who has committed to Central Michigan, threw touchdown passes of 10 yards to Jaeden Byrd and 54 yards to Sebastian Boyea in the first half.

Pinckney, which lost 58-6 to Lake Fenton last season, led 12-7 at halftime but gave up touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters.

Henry Taube scored on a 67-yard touchdown run with 3:13 left in the first quarter to give Pinckney a 6-0 lead. After Lake Fenton returned an interception for a touchdown, the Pirates took a 12-7 lead before halftime on a 9-yard pass from Jax Raymond to Nolan Carruthers.

The Pirates had good field position following a fumble recovery by Owen Turner in the second quarter and an interception by Prince Hayes in the third, but were unable to score.

Taube finished with 101 yards on nine carries.

    Corunna 21, Fowlerville 14

Fowlerville senior Wyatt Soli threw touchdown passes of 38 yards to Dylan Soli and 42 yards to Will Shrader. Shrader’s touchdown tied the game, 14-14, in the third quarter.

Corunna, the state Division 5 runner-up last season, won it on a 22-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Soli was 8-for-16 for 120 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Zach Wallace had 11 tackles and Sam Shrader intercepted a pass for the Gladiators.

    East Kentwood 21, Hartland 0

Parker Sundman caught five passes for 40 yards, Connor Renaud caught four passes for 38 yards and Grant Pawlak ran for 80 yards for Hartland.
