    Here are the candidates running for school board in Livingston County

    LIVINGSTON COUNTY — Numerous school board seats will be up for grabs in Livingston County on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The filing deadline for school boards in Michigan was July 23.

    Here's a list of what to expect:

    Brighton Area Schools

    There are eight candidates running for four open seats on the Brighton Area Schools Board of Education: Roger Myers, Glenn Hodges, Matthew Morneault, Anna Pennala, Kenneth Stahl, Katie Tierney, Kelli Uphaus and Alicia Urbain.

    Myers is the lone candidate running to retain his seat on the board. His term expires Dec. 31. Myers currently serves as board president. Alicia Reid, Bill Trombley and John Conely are not seeking re-election. Their terms expire Dec. 31.

    Those elected will serve four-year terms.

    Fowlerville Community Schools

    There are six candidates vying for four open seats on the Fowlerville Community Schools Board of Education: Amy Sova, Robert Hinton, Susan Charron, Justin Braska, Tony Coln and Lindsey Redinger.

    Sova is currently board president, Hinton is vice president and Charron is secretary. All three have served on the board since 2021. Braska is a trustee appointed to the board in May 2023.

    Those elected will serve four-year terms.

    Hartland Consolidated Schools

    There are four candidates running for two full-term seats on the Hartland Consolidated Schools Board of Education: Cindy Shaw, Tyffany Baird, Jeff Campbell and Angela Yarber.

    Shaw is the current board secretary. She was appointed to the board in 2022, and her partial term expires in November. Those elected will serve six-year terms.

    Meanwhile, Jeff Scott and Julie Tucker are running for a partial term that ends Dec. 31, 2026.

    Chris Costa and Michelle Blondeel are not seeking re-election to the board. Their terms expire Dec. 31.

    Howell Public Schools

    There are four candidates running for two seats on the Howell Public Schools Board of Education: Crystal Zurek, James Bruney, Steve Dault and J.J. Lewis.

    Zurek currently serves on the board. She was elected to a four-year term in 2020.

    Those elected will serve six-year terms.

    Brent Earl, current board secretary, was appointed in December 2022. His term expires Dec. 31. He is not seeking re-election.

    Pinckney Community Schools

    Melissa Mueller and Amanda Winningham are set to retain their seats on the Pinckney Community Schools Board of Education, as they're the only two candidates who have filed to run for two open seats.

    Winningham is board secretary and was elected in 2018. Mueller is a trustee who has served on the board since 2017.

    They will serve six-year terms.
