Jaelyn Ray and Cole McCraw ran two of the fastest sophomore times in Pinckney cross country history Tuesday in the Southeastern Conference White Division jamboree at Ella Sharp Park in Jackson.

Ray won a highly competitive girls race with a time of 18 minutes, 35.8 seconds. Her time is not only second on Pinckney’s sophomore list to an 18:34.3 run by Rachel Clark in the 2008 regionals at Huron Meadows Metropark, it’s the second-fastest time by a Pirate girl before her senior year.

Ray also moved up three places into sixth all-time at Pinckney.

A fast Ella Sharp Park course which yielded amazing times for other Livingston County runners in the Jackson Invitational, combined with the presence of Adrian’s Skeels sisters, helped push Ray to her personal best.

Ayda Skeels was second in 18:38.2, while Sophy Skeels was third in 18:53.5.

Pinckney took second to Adrian in the six-team race by a 34-53 margin.

Madalynn Karsies was fifth (20:00.8), Eastynn Charder 10th (21:23.9) and Brooklyn Reason 14th (22:05.5) for Pinckney.

Pinckney’s boys won with 31 points, giving them first-place showings against division opponents in the first two of three jamborees. The final meet is Oct. 17 at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter.

Zach Newman was third (16:46.4), Gabe Maciag fifth (17:25.2), Kyle Osborne ninth (17:39.0) and Noah Neuman 12th (17:55.4) for Pinckney.
