    Shaquille O'Neal to visit Big Chicken in Hartland on Friday

    HARTLAND — Basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal is making a visit to Livingston County on Friday.

    O’Neal will visit Big Chicken in Hartland on Sept. 27. The restaurant is located at 10490 Highland Road.

    A spokesperson for Big Chicken confirmed to The Daily that O’Neal plans to arrive around 2 p.m. Friday and will stay for as long as his schedule allows.

    O’Neal is the founder of the fast casual restaurant, known for chicken sandwiches, shakes and mac and cheese. Big Chicken opened in Hartland on Aug. 13.

    The new restaurant is part of a 20-unit development agreement to open locations across Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Flint, Saginaw and Mount Pleasant. H&D Group Investments opened the state's first Big Chicken in Clio in February, The Daily previously reported. There is a third location in Livonia.

    O’Neal, often referred to as Shaq, played in the National Basketball Association for 19 seasons. He won four NBA championships and was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016. He is an analyst on "Inside the NBA" on TNT.
