    Oct. 11: Livingston County principals, staffers name exceptional students

    Another week, another collection of excellent local students.

    Each week, we'll share our list of Students of the Week, nominated by local high school principals and staff. The honorees will be shared online Fridays and in print Sundays.

    From impressive classroom performance to kindness and inclusion, here are The Daily’s Students of the Week for Oct. 11:

    Meet the Class of 10/11

    Ashlyn Burns, Brighton High School

    Ashlyn currently has a 4.1303 GPA. She's a two-time qualifier for DECA States, placing in the Top 16 in Western Michigan University's Personal Sales Challenge Dash Raising. Ashlyn has also served in multiple leadership roles as a two-time member of Class Council and a two-time member of the BHS Executive Board, for which she is president this year. Ashlyn is part of BHS' National Honor Society and Leadership Class, and plans to pursue a future career in business and engineering.

    Clara Johnson, Fowlerville High School

    Clara is a senior at Fowlerville High School and has earned a spot on the honor roll through her dedication and hard work. Known for her consistently positive attitude, Clara serves as an outstanding role model for her peers. In addition to excelling academically, she is enrolled in the education program at the Wilson Talent Center, where she continues to develop her skills. Clara is an active member of the school community, participating in both volleyball and tennis, further showcasing her well-rounded talents.

    Ryleigh Harris, Hartland High School

    Ryleigh is a student that exemplifies what it means to be a "good human." She's a student that works hard in class but also looks out for others. She is honest and a leader. She's a lovely young lady who deserves this recognition.

    Addison Watts, Howell High School

    Addison is the Howell High School Hope Squad President and a dedicated student who balances her active involvement in numerous school activities with maintaining an impressive GPA. Every day, she arrives at school with a strong determination to foster a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all members of our community.

    Noel Myers and Griffin Peltier, Pinckney Community High School

    Pinckney Community High School submits a name each week based on nominations from students and staff. This week, there was a tie.

    Noel is a sophomore at PCHS. Her peers say she'll go out of her way to be kind and to include others. She always brightens days with her humor and energy. She's described as being like a breath of fresh air. Noel exemplifies the traits of kindness, enthusiasm, gratitude and humor. She has a 4.0 GPA.

    Griffin is a junior at PCHS. His peers say he exemplifies the character traits of gratitude, kindness, leadership, and appreciation of beauty and excellence. Griffin is on the executive board of the National Honor Society and Act 2 Theatre Company. He's a graduate of Reaching Higher. He's very kind and has a good sense of humor, making people want to be his friend. Griffin also has a 4.0 GPA.
