FOWLERVILLE — The community is invited to get a sneak peek at the new Fowlerville Elementary School before it opens in early 2025.

Fowlerville Community Schools is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony and special event from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the new Fowlerville Elementary, 420 N. Hibbard St. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place in front of the new building at 4:45 p.m.

Parking is available at both H.T. Smith and Kreeger Elementary Schools, according to a news release. The event includes food trucks, complimentary cider and doughnuts, a book bus, special guests and commemorative T-shirts for sale.

After the ceremony, guests can explore by visiting staged classrooms as well as other areas.

The newly constructed building will serve all kindergarten through second grade students in FCS, according to the release. In the coming weeks, staff will begin transitioning and moving into the new building.

Fowlerville Elementary will officially open full-time to students and staff on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025. The date marks the start of the second semester.

Voters in the FCS District approved a $41.9 million bond in November 2021 that made the new building possible. Bond funds were also used to improve air quality in all buildings (including adding air conditioning), closing the Munn building and creating green space for future athletic improvements. There were also renovations at H.T. Smith Elementary to house the Little Glad Center, recreation program and other specialty programs.

“On behalf of our students, staff and the entire district, I want to express our deepest gratitude to the voters for approving the bond proposal that has made our new elementary school a reality,” said FCS Superintendent Matthew Stuard. “Your support demonstrates a shared commitment to providing exceptional learning environments for our children, setting them up for a bright future.

“We invite everyone to join us in celebrating this milestone at our ribbon-cutting event. Together, let’s mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our school community.”
