Chicken Guy! in Livonia, first and only Metro Detroit location for Guy Fieri's chain, is closed after just one year

LIVONIA (WWJ) -- A much-hyped new fried chicken restaurant in Livonia closing after only being open for a year.

Chicken Guy! restaurant, located on Plymouth Rd. west of Middle Belt, is officially closed as of July 1 after just celebrating their one year anniversary in March.

This was the only location for celebrity chef Guy Fieri's fried chicken chain, which offers chicken sandwiches, tenders, fries, mac and cheese, fried pickles, and specialty milkshakes.

Owners The Tomey Group said that the decision to close the location was due to "unforeseen circumstances beyond our control."

A statement to WXYZ and other media continued: "We are incredibly grateful for the patronage we have received from our loyal customers and the local community, and for our team members and partners who have supported us through this journey. We are dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition for our team members and have offered opportunities within our other businesses."

Those to get their Chicken Guy! fix will now have to travel up to Mount Pleasant, where there is a location inside the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort. That's the only remaining location in Michigan.
