IowaWORKS hosting free job fair this month

Iowa WORKS is hosting a free job fair this month in Davenport that is attracting dozens of local employers.

The Quad Cities Success Fair was created to help veterans, transitioning service members and the public find employment, resources and educational opportunities. It will be on Wednesday, August 14 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at NorthPark Mall, 320 W. Kimberly Road in Davenport. Close to 80 employers and community resources will be at the fair to speak with job seekers about thousands of job opportunities in and beyond the Quad Cities.

“This year this event is even more important to our community to help those affected by recent hardships,” said Rick Ernst, Davenport Iowa WORKS Operations Manager. “We have a good mix of advanced manufacturing, business and healthcare-oriented jobs, as well a diverse representation of local companies to provide a wide array of career options.”

“We are excited to help the community connect with employers and the needed resources to help people succeed in diverse careers,” said James Stout, Home Base Iowa coordinator and a veteran. “We want to help those people that have recently been job displaced.”

“Veterans, military personnel and family members will have the opportunity to have on-site interviews and network with some of the top employers in our region,” said Shane Sawyer, Veteran Career Planner. “The community is also invited to participate to explore new career opportunities. If you can’t attend the Success Fair, the Iowa WORKS center in Davenport can provide additional resume and job-seeking services.”
