Common Chord, the City of Davenport and the Riverfront Improvement Commission are hosting an event that takes fans back to the late ‘70s and early ‘80s when the “Mississippi River Jams” and “Isle of Rock” festivals filled Credit Island with rock music.

The Credit Island Throwback Fest 2024 will be on the northeast end of the island, near the boat ramp and lodge, on Saturday, August 31. The event schedule includes:

    • 4 – 7 p.m. Community Carnival: Food trucks, kids’ activities, games, a magician and more.
    • 5 p.m. Great River Ducky Derby: Cheer on hundreds of rubber ducks as they race down the Mississippi River at Common Chord’s Great River Ducky Derby fundraiser for music education.
    • 6 -10 p.m. Throwback Fest Concert, featuring the Beaker Brothers Band, an Allman Brothers tribute, Einstein’s Sister and QC Rock Academy bands.

The Credit Island Throwback Fest is the final concert of The Big9 riverfront series, a collaboration between the City of Davenport and Common Chord. The series hosted concerts along Davenport’s nine miles of riverfront at several locations, including Veteran’s Memorial Park, Lindsay Park and The Last Picture House.

The Great River Ducky Derby is a community event/fundraiser that supports music education programs throughout the area. Participants “adopt” their ducks with a donation. The first three numbered ducks to cross the finish line will win prizes. Click here for more information and to adopt a duck.

“Common Chord is thrilled to join forces with the City of Davenport in celebrating our community’s rich musical heritage,” said Tyson Danner, Common Chord Executive Director. “Live music helps bring our riverfront to life!”

“It has been so exciting to see the public turn out for this concert series in Davenport’s beautiful riverfront spaces,” says Stephanie Bley, Riverfront Community Engagement Coordinator for the City of Davenport. “We can’t wait to end the summer with the Throwback Fest!”

Food trucks will be at the festival and the public can bring their blankets or chairs and their own drinks, but no glass containers. Tents, popups and other tall items are allowed but must be in the tent area. Parking is available on the island. Dogs must be on leashes.
