A Moline woman was arrested in Davenport after police say she tried to cash a forged check, according to Iowa court documents.

The Davenport Police Department responded to Northwest Bank, 1454 W. Locust Street on May 17 for a report of a person trying to cash a forged check. Tamara McCoy, 45 of Moline, is accused of stealing and forging over 149 checks between September 12, 2023 and May 16 of this year, according to the criminal complaint. The complaint says McCoy attempted to cash several forged checks over the course of eight months. McCoy is accused of using fake identities with stolen documents to cash the forged checks and using the money from these checks for financial gain without the permission of the owners of the checks.
