Scott County residents affected by damage from storms this summer can now get assistance.

Gov. Kim Reynolds announced in an email that Scott County has been approved for Individual Assistance and Dubuque and Jackson Counties have been approved for Public Assistance under the previously approved Major Disaster Declaration, FEMA DR-4796-IA, for Iowa counties that experienced significant damage from severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes that occurred on June 16, 2024, and later dates.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Individual Assistance Program has already activated for counties related to this incident, including Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Humboldt, Lyon, Monona, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pottawattamie, Sioux and Woodbury Counties.

With the new proclamation, Scott County residents are eligible for the Disaster Recovery Temporary Housing Program along with Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Humboldt, Lyon, Monona, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Sioux and Woodbury counties.

This program is available to residents whose homes were majorly damaged, destroyed or deemed uninhabitable in counties currently under a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for both FEMA Individual and Public Assistance.
