Missing Geneseo teen found dead after accident

UPDATE: According to a news release from the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office, on September 2 at approximately 10:30 a.m., deputies responded to a single vehicle crash in the 30900 block of 38th Ave. North in Hillsdale. The vehicle appeared to have been going westbound, left the roadway by travelling across the oncoming lane of traffic, went down a ditch and struck a tree. The driver was dead on scene. Rock Island County Coroner Brian Gustafson identified the driver as Anthony Carr, 18, of Geneseo. Carr was reported missing through the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by members from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Hillsdale Fire department, Genesis EMS and Medforce. The investigation is ongoing.

EARLIER: Authorities in Henry County need your help finding a missing person from Geneseo.

A post on the Henry County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page says Anthony Carr, 18 of Geneseo, was last seen on August 28, the same date as his last contact via phone. He is a white man about six feet tall and weighing between 135-140 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes.

A post on the Quad Cities Missing Persons Network’s Facebook says Carr’s vehicle is a silver 2006 Hyundai Sonata. He was last seen at his job at Tyson Foods in Joslin and left approximately 3 p.m. on August 28. Anyone with information on Anthony Carr and his whereabouts should call the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at (309) 937-3911.
