Sample the best locally made food and drinks while raising funds for music education programs at the second annual QC Flavor Fest from Common Chord.

QC Flavor Fest will be on Thursday, October 3 from 5-8 p.m. at Common Chord, 129 North Main Street in Davenport. The event has 20 sampling stations from favorite area restaurants and food vendors. Live music from the DMT Dave Matthews Tribute Band and 60+ silent auction items are among the attractions. All proceeds from Flavor Fest go directly to Common Chord’s music education programs. Participants can cast votes for the 2024 Quad Cities Favorite in two categories, sweet and savory. Winners receive the Golden Kazoo Award.

Common Chord provides educational and enrichment programs year-round to area youth to give them access to musical experiences and build positive relationships, including:

    • InTune Music Mentorship Program, for students at Project Renewal and Friendly House in Davenport, the MLK Center in Rock Island and Boys & Girls Club in Moline and Davenport. Professional musician mentors share their love of music with the kids, build healthy mentoring relationships, develop stronger support networks for at-risk youth and model positive paths forward in life.
    • Acoustic Music Clubs, a music enrichment program for kids and adults with disabilities that provides fun musical experiences. These programs are offered in partnership with the Blackhawk Area Special Education Center, ARC of the Quad Cities, Empowering Abilities (formerly HDC) and Empower House.
    • RiverCurrents works with over 25 elementary schools, homeschool groups and high schools annually, teaching students the importance of the Quad Cities in the development of American roots music.
    • Kidstock and Ellis Kell Winter Blues Camps bring young musicians together to form bands, learn to work together and perform in the Redstone Room.
    • Let’s Band Together provides free instrument loans to school bands and individuals.

“Common Chord embraces our role in the community as we activate music and seek to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors,” said Tyson Danner, Executive Director for Common Chord. “The love of music knows no boundaries, and working together, we are changing lives.”
