I-80 bridge washing bridge starts next week

It’s time for fall cleaning on the I-80 bridge!

The Illinois Department of Transportation that bridge washing on the Interstate 80 Mississippi River bridge in Rock Island County will start on Sunday, September 15, weather permitting. There will be nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction while workers wash the bridge.

There will be intermittent lane closures on Illinois 84 in Rock Island County and U.S. 67 in Scott County. The work is expected to be completed in two weeks.

Drivers can expect delays and should allow extra time moving through the area. Use alternate routes when possible, pay attention to changing conditions and signs, obey the speed limit, avoid using mobile devices and watch workers and equipment.
