“Mixed emotions. I was about to cry but I was also super happy it’s like a dream come true.”

Davenport North star guard Divine Bourrage committing to LSU. Bourrage is the no.7 recruit in the 2025 class and knew on the spot Baton Rouge was the next stop in the journey because it felt like family.

“Coach Mulkey felt like another parent and I think that’s super important into my decision and then like it just felt like home the environment the coaches and the players,” Bourrage said. “Just made it feel like home. Didn’t feel nervous at all. I felt like I could just have normal conversations with the girls. It was super fun like it didn’t feel fake at all.”

South Carolina, Arizona, Baylor, Illinois and Virginia Tech all offered. The success of LSU the last three years winning national championship and going to an elite eight and final four is what Bourrage wants to build off of fitting right into multiple ways in their offense.

“Build off their success learning from the people who’s been in the program and then just listen to coach. They showed me a video of where I could play and I could play on all three spots or around the wings so I feel like I would do better.”

“She could be a two. She’s even with her length and athleticism, could be a three possibly depending on who your guard and and for us she guards one through five so just a tremendous athlete, North head coach Paul Rucker said.

Bourrage wanted to make the decision before her birthday on November 6th to get it done before senior year with the focus now on enjoying one last ride at North.

“A lot of relief. I don’t have to wait until my birthday that’s when I wanted to commit so I don’t have to worry about that anymore and all the pressure is going about that just to be able to show out for my city period.”

Bourrage wants to continue being a role model for all the young kids in the Quad Cities and give them the confidence to be like her one day.

“It’s all on divine,” Rucker said. “She’s in at 5:00 in the morning. She’s in at 6:00 at night. She’s in at the Y playing pickup games. It’s her putting in all those unseen hours. That are boring as heck and repetitive and that’s kind of what differentiates the good players from the elite players and and now she’s getting to be on that platform.”

“There’s a lot of kids who come to our games and they look up to me so it’s super important to me and it’s because I have nieces and nephews and now I have in a little sister. And then my goal is to hopefully get to state and win a championship. We can do it.”
