A water main break means that some residents of southwest Rock Island won’t have water tonight.

The City of Rock Island found a water main break near 92nd Avenue West and Ridgewood Road in Southwest Rock Island on Monday, September 16 that will require emergency repairs. This means the water to be turned off in portions of the city. Contractors are organizing equipment and personnel immediately to complete the repairs. The water is estimated to be turned off sometime after 3:30 p.m. today.

Once the water main is shut down for the repair, the following areas will be without water until repairs are completed:

    • 2100 92nd Avenue West

    • 2301 92nd Avenue West

    • Highland Springs Golf Course

    • All properties on both sides of 35th Street West, to include the Highland Springs subdivision and the apartment buildings at 8903 and 8909 35th Street West

    • All properties on Highland Drive

    • All properties on Highland Court

It is estimated that 80 residences will be affected. The city expects to have water restored by midnight tonight, Monday, September 16. When water has been restored, the affected properties will be under a boil order until further notice. Click here for more information on what to do during a boil order.
