UPDATE: The Village of Rapids City is canceling the boil order they issued on Monday. Water supply personnel have completed repairs, flushing and purification steps and the tests have been verified by a certified laboratory.

Residents can return to normal water usage.

EARLIER: Residents of Rapids City are under a boil order today.

An email from the Village of Rapids City says that as of 3:50 p.m. on Monday, September 16, a precautionary boil order is in effect for all users between 803 – 1112 12th Street, 21113 – 21317 52nd Avenue North and all homes located on Deer Trail Court.

Water services were turned off but have since been restored. However, the water in the distribution system is subject to bacteriological contamination, which can cause waterborne diseases and/or general gastrointestinal problems. Residents will be alerted when the water has tested safe for domestic consumption.

All residents are asked to restrict their water use until further notice. Call the Village of Rapids City Staff at (309) 496 – 2321 with questions. For more information on what to do during a boil order, click here .
