Man wounded in Rock Island shooting

A man in Rock Island suffered a gunshot wound after an incident in a liquor store parking lot last night.

An email from the Rock Island Police Department says officers heard shots fire on Monday, September 16 at about 11:28 p.m. in the area of 24th Street and Seventh Avenue. When they arrived, they found a 55-year-old man in the parking lot of Riverside Liquor with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The man was taken to UnityPoint – Trinity Medical Center for treatment and later transferred to the University of Iowa Hospital. Investigators found spent shell casings in the 600 block of 24th Street.

There were no other injuries and no property damage in the incident. The Criminal Investigations Division is conducting an investigation.
