Police and school administrators in Eldridge are investigating an anonymous report about threatening language from a student, according to a news release from the Eldridge Police Department.

Eldridge police and North Scott school officials received P3 reports on Thursday, September 12 at about 4:57 p.m., saying an incident occurred earlier in the day at North Scott Junior High School. The anonymous P3 report said a student made a verbal threat about an act of violence toward another student. School administrators and the Eldridge Police Department began investigating the report.

The Eldridge Police School Resource Officer contacted the family of the students involved in the incident. Administrators and the school resource officer contacted witnesses named in the anonymous threat and verified that the student had used language that could be perceived as a threat. The student in question will not be at school while the investigation is open.

School officials and the Eldridge Police Department are following policy to address the issue and have included the Scott County Attorney’s Office in the process. A charge of harassment in the first degree, an aggravated misdemeanor, has been filed with the juvenile courts for review.

This investigation is separate from the first P3 tip received about school violence on Wednesday, September 11.

The release ends with a statement from the police department. “We want to remind students that any threats of violence will not be tolerated in or outside of the schools. The Eldridge Police and North Scott School District want to ensure the safety of both students and staff and that North Scott Schools remain safe, secure and a positive place to learn.”

I'm 75 and when in high school we settled our scores in the parking lot one on one. We didn't bring our dad's hunting rifles to school and needlessly kill a bunch of our classmates. I'm sick of these punk ass boys who threaten their classmates via social media or prank calls. Time to learn how to manage internal conflicts in a positive way and not take your shit out on a bunch of innocent others.
