The Moline Public Art Commission is launching a new Public Art Maintenance Program. The program will provide financial assistance to rehabilitate existing public artwork within the city. Its goal is to preserve and maintain the city’s public art and ensure that it is properly maintained, accessible and enjoyed by both residents and visitors.

The Public Art Maintenance Program gives matching reimbursement grants for rehabilitating public artwork. Property owners and organizations can apply for financial assistance to cover eligible costs associated with the restoration or repair of artwork that is visible and accessible to the public.

The program has a few guidelines:

    • The total annual budget for the program is $5,000.
    • Grants are offered on a reimbursement basis.
    • To qualify, art must be accessible to the public for at least 40 hours per week and projects must be in public locations.
    • Eligible forms of art include sculpture, painting, installations, photography, video, light or sound works and other projects that align with the Public Art Commission’s mission.

Applications are open until October 31. Applicants will present their projects at the commission’s meeting on November 18 and notifications will be released in December.
