One person was slightly injured in a kitchen fire in Clinton over the weekend.

The Clinton Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire in the 100 block of 18th Avenue North on Saturday, September 28 at about 3:23 a.m. First responders found light smoke coming from the front doors of the apartment complex. They found apartment A in the basement had a grease fire on the stove, which was extinguished before the Fire Department’s arrival. Most of the occupants of the 11-unit complex were evacuated.

The Fire Department ventilated the smoke from the complex and there was no further damage. Damage to the apartment is estimated at $5,000 and the resident has renter’s insurance. The fire department was on the scene for a little over an hour. The person who put out the fire suffered a minor injury.

I lived in a condo unit once. The old lady upstairs was so senile she left a hot clothes ironing the bed and set the place on fire. The fire burned the roof off the building. Later on, she forgot about a cake she was making in the oven and the cake set on fire. She opened the oven door, and it created a flashback type fire and burnt her kitchen quite badly. She should have never opened the oven door and let oxygen inside the oven. The whole condo unit smelled badly for about a year. I should have made her insurance company clean and repaint my condo unit. I was so glad to sell that unit and get the hell out of there before I was burned to death in a fire started by someone else.
